The project “Moscow - with Care of History” celebrated its sixth anniversary. Over these years, Muscovites have handed over 20 thousand memorabilia related to the period of the Great Patriotic War and the late USSR to the archive. These are photos, letters, and even video recordings. This was announced by the capital mayor Sergei Sobyanin on Thursday, May 8.

Objects, reminding about epochal events of the past, are accepted in the centers “My Documents”, from where they are sent to the Main Archive Department of Moscow. There the specialists are engaged in restoration of exhibits, if necessary, and provide appropriate conditions for their storage.

Some relics are recognized as especially valuable. For example, an album with 99 photographs depicting the battles of the Baltic Fleet in 1941 and reflecting important moments of the beginning of the war.

In his Telegram-channel Sobyanin said that currently in 30 capital's public service centers an exhibition is organized, showing the collected artifacts and documents. This year the exposition is dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory. In addition, the materials transferred to the Glavarkhiv can be viewed in the virtual museum with the same name, which is a publicly accessible digital archive.

The Mayor also mentioned the project “The South of Moscow - the History of War and Victory”, within the framework of which unique stories of veterans, residents of the Siege of Leningrad, home front workers and members of their families who lived in the Southern Administrative District of the capital are collected.

In Moscow it is planned to restore about 500 objects of cultural heritage.

Sobyanin: Moscow provides comprehensive assistance to the participants of the SWO, starting from 2022.
