Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said that the renovation of the capital's major parks will be the main project to improve the urban environment in the next few years. In his blog he noted that the improvement in some parks, carried out 10-12 years ago, is already outdated. Now works are actively carried out in Gorky Park, Sokolniki and Kolomenskoye.
Sobyanin also added that Izmailovsky, Kuzminki-Lublino and Fili Park are next in line for reconstruction. Over the last 12 years in Moscow more than 1 thousand parks and squares have been improved, and today 90% of citizens have the opportunity to visit them, being in walking distance.
Renovated Moscow parks will offer Muscovites and city guests a variety of entertainment: summer swimming pools, beaches, winter skating rinks, modern children's and sports grounds, as well as recreation areas with music, cafes and other services.
