Nice Mayor Christian Estrosi on his Twitter page announced the detention of the attacker, and also thanked the security forces for their professionalism.
The head of the city called the incident a terrorist act. He also asked the townspeople to avoid the area of the incident. The territory near the church is currently cordoned off.
After the incident, the Minister of the Interior Gerald Darmanin initiated the creation of a crisis headquarters under the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which will deal with the proceedings in this case.
