A passerby discovered a shoe with a human foot inside on one of Wellington New Zealand's beaches.
According to The New Zealand Herald, the gruesome discovery was made on March 25. Police found no other body parts in the water or on the beach.
Police Chief Sergeant Steve Williamson said that the found body fragment was sent for examination to establish the identity of the deceased.
The situation is reportedly not being treated as a homicide.
Local residents are alarmed by the incident. According to them, the beach is full of people in good weather, but at that moment it was empty.
