FSB officers carried out an operation to eliminate a supporter of the terrorist organization IS (banned in Russia) in Murmansk region. The information was confirmed by the FSB Public Relations Center.
“In the Murmansk region, FSB officers suppressed the activities of a supporter of the international terrorist organization“ Islamic State ”. He planned to carry out terrorist acts on the territory of military facilities on the instructions of foreign emissaries”, the FSB Public Relations Center said.
On the outskirts of Kandalaksha, an IS supporter planted an improvised explosive device in a cache. At that moment they tried to detain him, but the terrorist offered armed resistance. By retaliatory actions of the FSB officers, he was eliminated.
There were no casualties among law enforcers or civilians. During searches at the scene and at the house of the liquidated terrorist, a ready-made explosive device was found, as well as components for its manufacture. In addition, ammunition of various calibres, weapons and means of conspiratorial communication were found in a cache.
All this confirms the terrorist supporter's intentions to commit terrorist attacks, the FSB specified. On October 22 FSB officers prevented a terrorist act in Stavropol region that was being prepared by an IS supporter. He was also planning to carry out an explosion.
