In Egypt, Ukrainian boy lost hand as result of shark attack

In the Egyptian city of Sharm el-Sheikh, two tourists from Ukraine, including a child, were injured in a shark attack.

In the Egyptian city of Sharm el-Sheikh, two tourists from Ukraine, including a child, were injured in a shark attack. Everything happened on the territory of the Ras Mohamed Nature Reserve, where stopping of excursion yachts has been prohibited since last year.

A woman, together with her 12-year-old son, swam with scuba diving near the Shark Yolanda reef, being accompanied by an Egyptian guide.

Suddenly, a shark attacked the child and bit off his hand. The guide and the woman also suffered in the fight against the predator. Everyone had surgery. The condition of the child is described by doctors as critical. The woman was diagnosed with deep bite wounds.

It is already known that all the costs of treatment were borne by the Egyptian government.

According to the tour operator, scuba diving is not included in the list of insurance cases, which means that the victims will not receive financial compensation.

There is evidence that the Ukrainian family did not use the service diving from the tour operator, but from third parties, which is prohibited in Egypt.
