The death toll from the capsizing ship in Bangladesh has risen to 50, with another 40 reported missing.
According to the Dhaka Tribune, the Hindu pilgrims were on their way to the temple, and the ship suddenly capsized and sank in the Karatoya River, which is in the north.
The search and rescue operation was suspended Monday night. It will resume Tuesday morning. The dead include 25 women, 13 children and 12 men.
Such accidents are quite frequent in Bangladesh, with 230 rivers crossing the country. The wreck was the largest boating incident in Bangladesh in 2022.
