As it became known, the child accidentally discovered the weapon in the glove compartment of the car.
According to the New York Post, the incident was recorded in the city of West Palm Beach (Florida) on December 19. While visiting a gas station, the woman for a while left the cabin of the car, in which four children remained. While the mother was away, a 10-year-old boy opened the glove compartment and pulled out a Glock pistol.
The pampering caused the weapon to go off, the bullet hitting his 8-year-old sister in the cheek. Fortunately, the young victim was not critically injured and survived. Doctors are predicting a favorable treatment outcome. Two other children, ages 1 and 2, were not injured in the incident.
Police spokesman Mike Jahlszayavil specified that the tragedy did not happen only due to chance, and demanded from the owners of weapons responsible approach to their storage.
