At least one person has died after a car rammed into Christmas parade participants in the U.S. town of Waukesha, Wisconsin.
According to CBS, citing government officials, one person was the victim of a driver hitting participants at a Christmas parade in Waukesha.
Earlier, the head of the city's police department, Dan Thompson, said that at about 16:39 (01:39 Moscow time), a red SUV rammed the crowd, resulting in more than 20 people being injured.
Spectators and participants in the parade were evacuated.
Thompson added that the police have at their disposal a car that was allegedly involved in the incident. Also, law enforcement officers managed to detain "a person of interest for the investigation."
A video posted by Twitter users shows a red SUV entering and leaving the scene of the parade. Another video captures, presumably, the same car moving at high speed along the route of the Christmas parade, but the very moment of the collision was recorded. Another record shows how the car knocks down the fences in the area of the procession.
