According to the Daily Mail, on March 22 the 76.5-meter-long ship tipped in strong gusts of wind and overturned due to a 45-degree tilt. The accident injured 33 people, 21 of whom had to be rushed to the hospital. The remaining 12 people received medical care directly on site.

Recall that Paul Allen bought the Petrel to study the remains of famous shipwrecks. The ship's crew has made several dozen scientific missions. In 2020 the ship was moored in Edinburgh for an indefinite period, and in 2022, the billionaire sold it.

The Edinburgh authorities asked the yawner not to create a stir at the scene and not to interfere with emergency services to do their job.
