Avalanche in Murmansk region – child died

A group of 16 tourists reported the accident to the Ministry of Emergency Situations. Most of them were minors.

An avalanche occurred in the Khibiny mountains near the village of Imandra in the Murmansk region. This was reported by the press service of the Investigative Committee for the region.

According to the Ministry of Emergencies, a group of 16 tourists - 13 of them minors - is on the scene. According to the Investigative Committee, as a result of an avalanche in the snow was a child - a girl born in 2008. The child could not be resuscitated and died.

More than 50 rescuers and about 20 vehicles are working at the scene. Law enforcers, including the prosecutor's office, are also working.

According to preliminary information, a registered group from St Petersburg was supposed to take one route, but chose a different, unequipped one.
