More than 70 victims of flooding in India

Powerful monsoon rains have brought disaster to residents of northeastern India.

The number of victims of the water disaster in the northeastern states of India has increased to 71 people. This is reported by TASS, referring to the information of the Office of Disaster Management in India.

The heavy rains caused 5 137 settlements to be flooded, the monsoon rains have affected 4 228 100 people and 107 370 hectares of crops.

According to forecasters, heavy rains will continue to fall over the next 48 hours, after which the intensity of the rainfall is predicted to begin to decrease.

Heavy monsoon showers began in the northeast of the country last week. As a result, the Brahmaputra River and its tributaries burst its banks, flooding surrounding areas. The greatest water damage was observed in the states of Assam and Meghalaya.
