Rajasthan police have arrested 23-year-old Anuradha Paswan. She had married 25 times in seven months to different men in different states of India and robbed them.
A marriage scammer was arrested on Monday, May 19, in the Indian city of Bhopal. The girl is accused of creating an elaborate fraud scheme to defraud grooms and steal their valuables soon after the wedding.
The investigating officer in charge of the case said Paswan used fake documents to get married. After the wedding, she would be with her spouse for a few days and after “under the cover of night” she would leave the house with gold, money and electronics, The Times of India reported.
The scammer was able to be tracked down after one of the groomsmen filed a police report against her on May 3.
The source said that the marriage scammer acted as part of a criminal group. The accomplices looked for suitable grooms, showed photos of the bride and pushed them to the wedding.
Earlier in St. Petersburg, a policeman was charged with a fatal accident.
