IAC names reasons for AltaiAvia Mi-8 crash, crew commander to blame

The Interstate Aviation Committee (IAC) announced the results of the investigation of the tragedy with 13 tourists.

According to the agency, the cause of the crash, which occurred with the Mi-8 helicopter of AltaiAvia, was the carelessness of the commander of the rotorcraft during landing.

Recall that in July 2023 near the village Tyungur in Altai, the helicopter collided with a power line. In the fall 6 passengers were killed.

IAC confirmed that the Mi-8 hit the power line support. The negative factors were:

• unsafe distance to obstacles at the landing site;
• gusty crosswind;
• turning before landing;
• excessive speed while hovering and turning.

Aviation personnel involved in the accident, for the duration of the investigation was suspended from work.

Earlier it became known that the helicopter with the President of Iran crashed.
