A factory storing 900 tonnes of lithium batteries on fire in southern France, the fire took two days to extinguish

The fire engulfed an ACB warehouse in the department of Averon (southern France).

According to Radio France Bleu, the fire spoilt goods weighing 900 tonnes. Firefighters arrived on 17 February 2024 to extinguish a 3,000 sqm fire. In addition to the intense flames, significant amounts of black smoke were released into the air.

Authorities have banned local residents from leaving homes located within 500 metres of the emergency site until the burning is finished. Police suspended traffic on the D5 motorway until the end of Saturday.

More than 70 firefighters took part in extinguishing the fire. In the morning of 18 February, 30 firefighters were drenching the hotbeds of fire at the scene.

Earlier it became known that from the mine "Tashtagolskaya" in Kuzbass evacuated the staff because of the mountain blow, there are no victims.
