6.4 magnitude earthquake near the Greek island of Crete

An earthquake of magnitude 6.4 occurred today in the Mediterranean Sea near the Greek island of Crete, as reported by the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Center.

Thus, experts recorded tremors on October 19 at 05:32 UTC. The earthquake epicenter was located 308 km away from Heraklion, where about 137 thousand people live, and 115 km away from the Karpathos Island. The source was located at a depth of 60 kilometers. There is no information about possible victims and destructions.

Meanwhile, Turkey's Department of Emergencies reported a magnitude 6 earthquake in the south of the country.

The epicenter of the earthquake was located at a depth of 36 kilometers in the Mediterranean Sea and 190 kilometers from the resort town of Kas, Antalya province.

Last Saturday an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.3 hit the Indonesian island of Bali. Three people became victims of the disaster, seven were injured.
