In Kyrgyzstan, the State Committee for National Security (SCNS) has launched another high-profile case by detaining Ulan Zhaparov, the nephew of President Sadyr Zhaparov. According to information provided by the Telegram channel “Sputnik Kyrgyzstan”, Ulan is accused of committing a serious crime that brought material damage in a significant amount to the injured party. As a result of this incident, a relative of the head of state was placed in custody until August 19.

This is not the first time when Ulana Zhaparov finds himself in the center of attention of law enforcement agencies. In June 2023, he was already detained in a corruption case, but in October of the same year he was released and placed under house arrest.

Earlier, the Kyrgyz authorities thwarted a coup d'état in which assassinations and bombings were planned at protests to intensify discontent and prepare mass riots, the republic's president, Sadyr Zhaparov, told the Kabar news agency.
