A father and stepmother forced a nine-year-old boy to live for seven months in a street dog kennel (Lexington Kentucky).
According to the Daily Mail, the child's father Jonathan Starr and his stepmother Sarah Starr were arrested for child abuse.
In October, police officers received an anonymous call. Someone reported that the child had been locked up in a street dog kennel on Cress Road.
When officers arrived on the scene, they saw a horrifying sight.
The boy was found shivering from the cold. He was wearing just a T-shirt, blue jeans and no shoes. The boy was shivering and had no shoes. It was very cold outside and there was frost on the ground outside the building.
Inside the kennel they found two blankets, a coat, a hooded sweatshirt, a pair of children's boots, two short-sleeved shirts and a pair of pants, all clothes were wet.
"I've been in law enforcement for 36 years, and I've never seen anything like this," Sheriff Richie Simmons said.
The boy told police he had been living in the enclosure since April because he didn't have a room at the family residence.
Sarah and Jonathan Starr were charged with child abuse, misdemeanor and unlawful imprisonment. Also arrested was the stepmother's aunt, Shelley Barnes, who owned the house and knew all about it.
All three are scheduled to appear in court Nov. 10.
The five siblings of the injured boy were taken into custody by county police.
