A physician from Volgograd earned 171 thousand rubles by selling fake COVID certificates

In Volgograd, employees of the Investigative Committee opened a case on bribes for issuing fake vaccination certificates - the total amount of «rewards» for the service provided was over 170 thousand rubles.

A 26-year-old former general practitioner at one of the Volgograd polyclinics has been prosecuted under the article on receiving a bribe in the form of money by an official, for illegal actions committed by an organized group on a large scale, as well as for forgery. It was established that from April to August 2021, a 26-year-old man received money for the issuance of vaccination certificates, introducing deliberately false information into them.

He worked as a district general practitioner of the city polyclinic and was a member of the vaccination team for the vaccination against coronavirus infection. The investigation established that he entered into a criminal conspiracy with at least 27 persons who agreed to fictitious vaccinations. Having received from them about 171 thousand rubles, the physician destroyed the unused vaccine, after which he handed over fake certificates to enter information about the vaccination of citizens in the unified state information system of health care.

According to law enforcement officers, by distorting information about the actual vaccination of the population, the doctor created a threat to the life and health of others.

The crime was uncovered by officers of the Main Department of Internal Affairs of Russia in Volgograd Oblast.
