A magnitude 6.0 earthquake struck Taiwan, no casualties or damage

European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC) reported on the parameters of a natural hazard in the Asian region. The magnitude of the seismic event reached 6.0.

Seismologists specified that the epicenter of the tremors was located in the area located 23 kilometers southeast of the city of Hualian. The epicenter was located at a depth of 10 kilometers below the surface of the earth.

At present, Taiwan authorities have no knowledge of casualties, injuries or earthquakes.

Before that, on August 13, 2024, there was an earthquake in the Pacific Ocean, near the coastline of the Kuril Islands. The magnitude of the seismic event was 4.6. Its epicenter was localized 92 km to the south of Malokurilskoe settlement (Kuril island Shikotan). The source of the underground element lay at a depth of 41 km.

Earlier it became known that the Meteorological Agency reported the threat of a mega-earthquake in Japan.
