In the area of Vouliagmeni, south of Athens, a helicopter carrying American travelers crashed shortly after takeoff and fell into the sea.

The incident, according to ERTnews TV channel, happened at around 1pm. The helicopter took off from Eleusis airport to pick up two couples of tourists from the US and take them to Mykonos for an excursion.

However, the aircraft failed to gain the necessary altitude and went down. Thanks to the pilot's instructions, all passengers managed to leave the cabin on their own. All on board - five people - remained unharmed.

The report notes that the Coast Guard promptly responded to the distress call, and rescue services were sent to the scene. A diver from the Coast Guard took the tourists' belongings out of the water, and the lifting of the helicopter from the bottom is planned to be carried out in the next two days.

It is assumed that the cause of the accident could be overload or pilot error. It also became known that the helicopter did not have a certificate authorizing landing at the pier.

Earlier, the only survivor of the plane crash in India told about the tragedy.
