According to reports, the woman had gone to the forest near Karbada village to collect tendu leaves. She had gone to the forest with her husband Arun and other women from the village when the attack happened. She was engaged in collecting tendu leaves when a tiger hiding in the bushes suddenly attacked her. Her husband heard screams and saw the predator dragging the victim away. Arun ran back to the village to alert the villagers. The villagers later found Bharde's body in a pool of blood in the forest, reports Hindustan Times.

The locals, angered by the repeated attacks, took out a protest rally against the forest department and district authorities demanding proper compensation and government jobs for the victim's son. Forest officials and police officers managed to calm the crowd and the victim's body was sent to the local civil hospital for autopsy.

Earlier it was reported that in India a tiger in one attack killed three women at once. Before that, in India, a leopard snatched a child from its mother's arms and killed it.
