In Rostov-on-Don, a squally wind knocked down the city's main Christmas tree in front of the entrance to Gorky Park. The mayor's office reported that no one was injured.

"Because of the squally wind, the city tree fell near the park named after Maxim Gorky. There were no casualties," RIA Novosti quoted a representative of the administration as saying.

The tree is 24 meters high. Before installation, it was decorated with new toys and garlands. The head of the city administration, Aleksey Logvinenko, instructed to look into what had happened, as well as to check the quality of the structure. According to the weather forecast, windy weather with gusts of up to 20 meters per second will continue in the city on January 15.
