An unknown disease has been identified in South Sudan. It has caused the death of 89 people, the Daily Mail reports. Experts from the World Health Organization (WHO) have arrived in the country.
They had to reach the scene by helicopter. The fatalities were recorded in the town of Fangak, in the eastern state of Jonglei. Earlier, there had been flooding in that part of the country.
Medics tested those infected for cholera and came up negative. WHO spokeswoman Sheila Baya said the organization decided to send a rapid response team to conduct a risk assessment and investigation.
