Five sailors from Russia have been arrested for transporting a drug banned in Egypt.
On November 4, the crew of the Turkish ship Soya was arrested in Egypt. During unloading in Alexandria, the drug tramadol, banned in Egypt, was found on the ship. It is an opioid synthetic analgesic.
Among the detainees are five Russians, including Soya captain Sergei Eremizin, as well as three citizens of Bulgaria. According to the detainees, they did not know that they were transporting a prohibited drug, since the containers were sealed.
At the moment, the sailors are still under arrest. According to some reports, even the consul is not allowed to see them.
