An audit conducted by the prosecutor's office showed that the cause of the contamination of Olkha is the emergency situation at the “Silicon” corporation in the Irkutsk region.
In October, messages and photos appeared on social networks indicating pollution of the Olkha River. On October 13, the Baikal Interregional Prosecutor's Office announced the results of a related audit.
TASS, citing a representative of the prosecutor's office, reports that an emergency was created at the Silicon plant in Shelekhov, which is part of the “Rusal” company. A pipe through which water with silicon dust flows burst, so this dust got in the river.
According to the TASS interlocutor, this situation indicates the lack of proper organizational control at the enterprise. The prosecutor's office intends to insist on disciplinary action against employees of the enterprise.
