The press service of the United States Geological Survey (USGS) informed about the earthquake near the coastline of Chile.
According to the agency, the magnitude of the seismic event was 6.1. Underground tremors were localized in the west, in the area of the coast of Chile. Seismographs noted vibrations of the earth's crust at 11:49 UTC (14.49 Moscow time) on September 13.
The epicenter of the earthquake was located 1,477 km northwest of the city of Anga Roa. The source of the underground element was located at a depth of 10 km from the ground surface.
Official data on victims, casualties and damage were not received in the media.
