Two cargo ships collided in the Baltic Sea near the island of Bornholm off the coast of Sweden. One of the vessels overturned.
According to SVT TV company with reference to the Swedish Maritime Administration, one of the ships is registered in Denmark, the second - in the UK. One of the ships overturned after the collision.
A search and rescue operation was launched at the scene, involving ten boats and helicopters. In addition, the British ship Scot Carrie, which survived the collision, is involved in the rescue operation.
There is no exact data on the number of crew of the damaged ship. Nevertheless, there was information in the media that the Danish ship Karin Hoej was operated by at least two people.
Jonas Franzen, public relations manager of the Swedish Maritime Administration, noted that the reasons for the collision were not known at the moment.
