In Haiti, ex-senator and left-wing party leader Piti-Dessalines Moise Jean Charles reported the murder of two journalists in the Cité Soleil area, which is controlled by gangs.
According to him, two young journalists, on the occasion of the incident on Sunday, September 11, presented a report about the meeting of Kristella, a 17-year-old girl who was the victim of a group meeting.
Jean Charles emphasized that the state at the moment cannot achieve peace for the population.
This year, the death toll of journalists in Haiti has reached five. Since 2020, 21 media workers have been killed in the country.
The UN has previously invoked Haitian laws investigating these cases, as impunity can violate the rights of many people.
