During the evening of July 2, a fire broke out at Penza CHPP-1, the cause of which was the ignition of a transformer. The incident resulted in a short-term power and hot water supply outage. Firefighting units promptly extinguished the fire, the area of which was about 100 square meters. No one was injured.

Melnichenko emphasized that the fire was not related to any drone attacks or other external influences. A backup power supply channel has been launched, electricity connection of consumers is gradually being restored.

"I trace in social networks false information that today's incident is allegedly related to the drone threat. I want to dispel myths - there is no danger, no drone warning was announced," the governor emphasized in his Telegram channel.

Penza CHPP-1 is the most important supplier of electricity and heat energy for the region. Its installed capacity is 310 MW, heat capacity - 805 Gcal/h.

Earlier, a Ukrainian drone was destroyed in the Tula region, there was no damage to the infrastructure.
