Recently information appeared on the net that a Russian woman from Nefteyugansk lost her vacation in Thailand because of an error in her passport and subsequently sued the police for almost 200,000 roubles.

A 30-year-old resident of Nefteyugansk planned to spend a vacation with her husband in Thailand. The flight was scheduled to depart from Yekaterinburg via Koltsovo airport. However, the woman was turned away at passport control. The reason was an error in her passport: instead of "Stavropol" in the "Place of birth" column, it was "Stravropol".

Unwilling to put up with the disrupted vacation, the Russian woman decided to go to court. She managed to prove that an error in her passport, made during the registration of the document in the Department of Internal Affairs of Russia in Nefteyugansk, was the reason for the impossibility of departure.

The court sided with the tourist, recognizing that the police are responsible for the poorly rendered services, namely for the error in the passport. As a result, the court ruled to recover from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in Nefteyugansk more than 170 thousand rubles, including the cost of tickets, hotel fees and other expenses related to the preparation for the vacation.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs intends to appeal the court decision, but, according to lawyer Vladimir Alexandrov, the law enforcement agencies have little chance of success. The lawyer emphasized that the responsibility for substandard services is borne by the body that provided them, and in this case it is the OMVD of Russia in Nefteyugansk.

Earlier, border guards at Moscow's Vnukovo airport confiscated the Russian woman's passport and prevented her from traveling abroad because of the letter "Ё" in the spelling of her surname.
