A passenger flight to Houston from Denver was marred by an emergency: a Southwest Airlines Boeing 737-800 encountered an abnormal situation while climbing to an altitude of 3,140 meters. The engine cover came off and hit the flap during takeoff, forcing the plane to return to the airport, zhizn.ru reported.

At that moment there were 135 passengers on board, who experienced unpleasant stress, and the aircraft itself was then sent for repairs. People were transferred to another flight liner four hours after the incident.

The Boeing 737-800 is currently undergoing diagnostics and repairs. The FAA has launched an investigation into the incident to determine the cause of the breakdown. The airline has not yet disclosed the last maintenance of the airplane, but it is known that it was put into service in June 2015.

Earlier in March, a passenger Boeing 737 lost part of its outer panel during flight, and an ex-Boeing engineer was found dead in the US after reporting assembly problems at the company.
