Earthquake shocks were felt by residents of the Southern Kurils.
Sakhalin branch of Integrated Geophysical Survey of RAS reported on August 8 about fixation of earthquake with magnitude 6.0 near the coast of Malaya Kurilskaya Ridge.
This seismic event occurred at 00:40 a.m. 117 kilometers eastward from Malokurilskoe settlement. Origin of this earthquake was located at a depth of 25 kilometers.
Residents of Southern Kurils felt tremors. But there were no reports on damages of buildings or casualties.
Note that Malokurilsk village is located on Shikotan island.
