On Sunday, July 7, an accident occurred in the waters of the Black Sea, within the city of Gelendzhik. During a yachting training session, a MX700 class sports sailing yacht sank. There were five people on board. Rescuers immediately arrived at the scene and were able to pull four of the victims out of the water. Currently, there is an active search for the missing female passenger, but hopes for a favorable outcome are melting by the minute.

The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation initiated a criminal case on the grounds of a crime under Part 2 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation - provision of services that do not meet safety requirements. On behalf of the Southern Transport Prosecutor's Office, the Novorossiysk Transport Prosecutor's Office has launched its own investigation into the incident. The inspection will assess compliance with the legislation on the safety of navigation, as well as the actions of all responsible persons.

As a reminder, the Italian authorities have spent approximately 32 million euros (more than 3 billion rubles) over the past two years on the maintenance of seven arrested yachts belonging to Russian oligarchs.
