Turkish Justice Ministry head Yılmaz Tunç has said that about 40 people have been arrested in connection with incidents at May Day demonstrations in Istanbul. Some of them are accused of terrorist propaganda.
He said 65 people have been detained as part of the prosecutor's office's investigation into those who tried to march to Taksim Square and attacked law enforcers despite the ban, and 38 of them have been arrested on charges of violating the law on demonstrations, propaganda for a terrorist organization and resisting a public servant.
Tunç added that 27 people were released under judicial control.
