Magnitude 5.3 earthquake felt in China, no damage

China's seismological center revealed details of the incident.

According to the agency, the earthquake with magnitude 5.5 was recorded on April 4, 2024 on the territory of Qinghai Province (northwest China).

The first vibrations of the Earth's crust sensors registered at 08.39 a.m. (03.39 Moscow time) in the area of Mannai urban district of Haixi-Mongolian-Tibetan Autonomous Region of Qinghai Province.

It is known that the epicenter of the seismic event was located at a depth of 10 kilometers. The source of the underground element localized in 370 km south-west of Dunhuang.

China Central Television specified that local residents "clearly felt" the tremors. The Chinese authorities have not yet recorded information about casualties, victims and destruction of residential sector or industrial facilities.

Earlier, a second earthquake with a magnitude of 6.6 struck off the eastern coast of Taiwan, the threat of a tsunami was announced.
