A surgeon in Austria amputated an elderly man's healthy leg during an operation. According to The Guardian, the surgeon was fined 2.7 thousand euros for this mistake.
It is specified that the incident occurred in the city of Freistadt, where a 43-year-old nurse performed surgery on an 82-year-old man. Before surgery, the woman marked the wrong leg, which resulted in the removal of a healthy limb.
The court found the woman guilty of negligence and imposed a fine. She herself called everything a human and technical error and moved to another city.
