Local people believe that the church was brought to such a state by the construction nearby. The authorities and the diocese do not react to the problem.
The Church of the Dormition of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the village of Teterinsky in the Nerekht district of the Kostroma region is covered with cracks. The building is more than 300 years old, it is a unique monument of architecture and painting of the early 18th century, notes "Southern Federal".
Local residents believe that the temple is destroyed by the construction in the neighborhood, it is conducted too close to the protection zone of the cultural monument. The villager Alexei Dzyulya is perplexed how they could give permission to build in such a place, and notes that the authorities and the diocese do not react in any way.
Cracks have spoiled not only the facade of the building, but also the wall paintings inside; they have covered a large area.
The locals hope that the public outcry will help to save the church and understand why violations were committed.
