Missing Olympic equestrian champion Alexander Blinov found dead

Earlier missing Olympic equestrian champion Alexander Blinov has been found dead in the village of Andreevskoye in Moscow Region.

The 66-year-old 1980 Olympic equestrian champion Alexander Blinov, whose disappearance became known on February 9, has been found dead in the village of Andreevskoye in the Moscow region, representatives of the Russian Equestrian Federation report.

According to Blinov's friend Alexander Yevdokimov, the winner of the 1980 Olympics in equestrian sport froze to death before reaching his home because of snowfalls.

On the day of his disappearance, he was travelling on business to Mozhaisk, where he stopped at a bank and a supermarket. The athlete returned home in a taxi, but he was dropped off half a kilometer from his home as the car could go no further because of snow drifts.

Blinov's body was found in the snow near the house where he lived, some 150 meters from the stable where he worked.

At the 1980 Olympic Games, Alexander Blinov won a team gold medal in eventing and a silver medal in the individual eventing.
