Unknown gunmen opened fire and wounded 14 people on Halloween night in Chicago

The shooting in the U.S. city of Chicago, Illinois, injured at least 14 people, including children.

The overnight incident was reported by CNN. Chicago Police Department Superintendent David Brown said the shooting occurred in the evening in the West Side neighborhood between South California and West Polk streets.

According to Fox News, police spotted at least one vehicle on surveillance video. Police speculate that two shooters fired from it at the crowd standing at the intersection.

Also, one person was hit by a car at the scene.

According to police, the car attack lasted three seconds as the gunmen fired indiscriminately into the crowd of people.

Chicago police also told a news conference that the victims included a 3-year-old, an 11-year-old and a 13-year-old.

The victims were taken to several area hospitals in conditions ranging from non-life-threatening to critical, Brown said.
