The baby slept with the mother's aunt in the common room on the floor.
In the Indian city of Panipat, stray dogs broke into a hospital building, abducted a newborn baby boy and mauled him to death, the Times Now News reported.
A pregnant woman, Shabnam, gave birth to a baby boy at the city hospital. After giving birth the young mother was transferred to a general ward on the first floor of the hospital. The relatives who accompanied her - her husband, mother-in-law, and aunt - stayed the night with her. All of them, except the mother in labor, slept in the room on the floor. After feeding the newborn, her aunt laid him on the floor next to her.
At night, one of the relatives woke up and did not find the baby. The worried family rushed to look for the boy throughout the hospital. When they ran out into the street, they saw the remains of the child in the mouth of a stray dog. The hungry stray dogs, looking for food, got into the ward, kidnapped the child lying on the floor and gnawed him.
People managed to take the infant's body away from the dogs. Doctors pronounced the newborn dead. The family complained that the medical facility where the newborn babies were held did not ensure their safety.
