Regular exercise reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease and premature death. This is the conclusion reached by scientists from the Academy of Public Health in the United States. They voiced new data - how much exercise a person should do during the week to reduce the risk of premature death. The results of the study were published in the journal Circulation.

The standard recommendations of the US Department of Health and Human Services are 150-300 minutes of moderate physical activity per week or 75-150 minutes of vigorous physical activity. But recent research shows that those who want to live longer are better off spending more time on exercise and other physical activities.

Researchers found that adults who exercised two to four times more intensely than normally recommended had a lower long-term risk of dying from any cause. Among those who received increased physical activity, the risk of death decreased by 21-23%. In the moderately physically active group, it was 26% to 31% lower.
