Murashko: vaccination against COVID-19 in Russia will be free

Russian Minister of Health Mikhail Murashko announced the upcoming vaccination of the population against COVID-19. The minister assured that vaccinations will be free.

"Vaccination of the population on a free basis will be carried out thanks to the launch of large-scale production of drugs. The Russians will receive the entire range of vaccinations that differ in production technology," Mikhail Murashko said at the XIII Eurasian Economic Forum in Verona.

Three COVID-19 vaccines have been created in Russia, two of which have already been registered. The third should be registered by the end of 2020.

Mikhail Murashko also said that amid the spread of new infections, humanity may face new challenges "in the medium term." "Previously, these infections did not occur because they were caused by new pathogens. There is also a possibility of an increase in the number of infected people with already known infections, in particular, due to climate change," said Mikhail Murashko.

The head of the Russian Ministry of Health also mentioned biological terrorism. Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova previously said that people suffering from diabetes are ten times more likely to become infected with COVID-19. In addition, diabetics experience coronavirus disease in a severe form twice as often.
