Scientists at Johns Hopkins University have found that vitamin D deficiency increases the risk of stroke. It is reported by British newspaper Express.

According to experts, vitamin D is essential for the proper functioning of most key systems in the human body - from immunity to bone metabolism.

Also vitamin D is important for the health of the heart and blood vessels. Its deficiency doubles the risk of possible acute impairment of blood supply to the brain.

Vitamin D is formed in the epidermis of the skin under the influence of ultraviolet rays, so its deficiency is observed in countries where there is little sunlight.

You can also get vitamin D by eating fatty fish, eggs, beef liver and yogurt.
