Russia has been predicted a demographic crisis. According to Konstantin Malofeev, a Russian businessman and public figure, founder of the Tsargrad TV channel, the country's birth rate continues to decline and the population is losing ground.

All this increases geopolitical risks and leads to a decrease in potential economic development, Malofeev said.

Therefore, the social activist believes, more attention should be paid to fertility issues than to economic indicators.

"Children are an index of happiness, an index of the success of government management. If we have children - it means that we manage the state well, it means that we are doing well in the economy," he explained to "Gazeta.Ru".

Recall, according to Rosstat, in 2023 in Russia were born 1.264 million children, which is the lowest figure since 1999. The head of the State Duma Committee on Health Protection Fedot Tumusov emphasised the importance of increasing the birth rate in Russia.
