Rospotrebnadzor reported that now there are several thousand coronavirus mutations in the world.

According to RIA Novosti, citing the press service of Rospotrebnadzor, at the moment there are several thousand mutations in the world, but only 22 of them are actively inherited.

The first variants of the virus were detected at the end of January in China, then in Australia, and at the end of February they were already found in most countries of Western Europe, Saudi Arabia, the USA, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Morocco and Senegal.

These variants of strains with mutations P314L (gene ORF1b) and D614G (gene S) occur in Russians in 99% of cases. They were imported from Western Europe in March and April.
