Video: Vector center completes first phase of COVID-19 vaccine trials

The head of the department of zoonotic infections and influenza of the State Scientific Center for Virology and Biotechnology «Vector» of Rospotrebnadzor, Alexander Ryzhikov, announced the completion of the first phase of trials of the vaccine against COVID-19.

"The first phase of clinical trials usually tests the harmlessness of the coronavirus vaccine. The studies were completed, according to the results of which experts found out that the drug does not harm health," said Alexander Ryzhikov.

The first results of the vaccine trials will appear in the coming months, the department chair emphasized. It will be possible to read about the results of research both in domestic and foreign scientific journals.

"At least 3,000 volunteers are planned for the third phase of the coronavirus vaccine trials. At the first stage, there were 100 volunteers. Such a number of volunteers for research is enough," said Alexander Ryzhikov.

After vaccination, a person will not have lifelong immunity to coronavirus. At the same time, the vaccine "responds quite well to the virus mutation," added Alexander Ryzhikov, but the drug has no restrictions on revaccination.

Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov said earlier that the authorities are not considering the introduction of a new regime of self-isolation for coronavirus.
