Scientists from Stanford University School of Medicine (USA) have tackled the problem of frequent pathologies at retirement age. This is the time period in which aging markers appear especially sharply.
American molecular biologists have noted the peculiarity that the change of age changes does not always go smoothly. Thus, between the ages of 40 and 60, the dynamics of the appearance of signs of aging resembles an explosion.
“(...) sometimes there are abrupt changes in the work of our cells. For example, it turned out that such abrupt shifts in biomarkers of aging occur in the middle of the fifth decade of life, and another change usually occurs at the beginning of the seventh decade of life, “- said Stanford University Professor Michael Snyder.
The research involved 100 volunteers between the ages of 25 and 75. Several years in a row, scientists took samples of their blood and other fluids. Scientists were interested in the increase in the concentration of aging markers with increasing age.
It was noted that 81% of biological indicators changed non-linearly:
At the same time, the changes affected both men and women equally. Now the accumulative effect of age-related cell damage and the appearance of a whole “bouquet” of diseases characteristic of pensioners - dementia, heart attack, etc. - becomes clear.
