Putin: center “Vector” registers second Russian vaccine against COVID-19

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the registration of a second vaccine against COVID-19. The drug was created by the Novosibirsk center «Vector.»

"Specialists at the “Vector” Center have developed a second vaccine for coronavirus. It was called "EpiVacCorona." Currently, the third vaccine is already on the approach, it is being developed at the “Chumakov” Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences," Vladimir Putin said during a meeting with government members.

Russian Minister of Health Mikhail Murashko previously announced the registration of a second vaccine against COVID-19. Vladimir Putin noted that Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova and the head of Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova have already taken part in clinical trials, having been vaccinated. Tatyana Golikova also announced the release of more than 60 thousand doses of “EpiVacCorona” vaccines, which will be made in the near future.

In Russia, the “Sputnik V” vaccine has already been registered. By the spring of 2021, it is planned to produce up to 15 million doses of the drug every month.
