Russian academy of sciences reported response of participants to “live” vaccine against COVID-19

Participants in clinical trials of the third Russian vaccine against coronavirus, created at the Chumakov Center, do not have «adverse events,» said Alexander Sergeev, president of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS).

According to Sergeev, the first trials of the "live" vaccine started in Novosibirsk a week ago. And so far, no "adverse events" have been found in volunteers.

The academician noted that there are no participants in the tests even the so-called subfebrile temperature (in the range of 37-38 degrees).

The first stage of the vaccine trials, which studies its safety, was completed "normally," the president of the Russian Academy of Sciences emphasized. However, experts are still waiting for the appearance of antibodies in the necessary titre, Sergeyev said.

The vaccine created at the Chumakov Center is whole virus vaccine. It uses the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 itself, treated in such a way that it has no infectious properties, but retains the ability to induce an immune response.
